Rufus Carl Conyers, 72, of Tallahassee passed unexpectedly on Monday, October 21, 2024. Homecoming services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, at the Old West Enrichment Center, with burial in Oakland Cemetery. Viewing-visitation is 4-6 p.m. Monday at TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE (850-942-1950). Rufus was a 1970 graduate of Leon High School. He later attended Florida A&M University and was a star athlete who was especially talented in basketball. Rufus was a former Tallahassee Police Officer and for more than 20 years, he had worked for Publix Supermarkets. He was a member and past Usher at Bethelonia AME Church. Cherishing precious memories are his loving wife, Margaret Robinson Conyers; son, Courtney Conyers; daughter, Kezia (Milton) Barnes; grandchildren: Tykeria Jones, Ramiah Williams, Carly and Caylin Conyers; great-grandchild, Myles Youngblood; mother, Juanita Smith; sister, Dedra McGhee; brothers: Marlin Fountain and Richard Clark; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
