Mrs. Runnette Mitchell James, 80, of Tallahassee passed at home, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, November 8, 2023. Funeral services are 12 noon Thursday, November 16, at New Mt. Zion AME Church, with burial in Tallahassee Memory Gardens. Viewing-visitation is 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, at TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE (850-942-1950). A 1959 graduate of the original Lincoln High School, Mrs. James had worked in several positions locally before moving to Houston, TX where she lived for over 25 years. She retired as a Mortgage Broker. She was a longtime member of New Mt. Zion AME Church. Survivors include her daughter, Denise Harris Atkinson; son, Freddie "BeBe" (Dr. Gwendolyn) Harris; grandchildren: Amani (Alyssa) Atkinson, Dr. Kadee Atkinson and Dinah (David) Reed; sister, Mary Mitchell; and a host of other loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
