It is with loving remembrance, we announce the passing of Mrs. Ruthie Mae Harris Brown , 80, of Tallahassee, Florida, who departed this life on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
Homegoing Services for Mrs. Ruthie Mae Brown will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 24, 2026, at New Hope International Outreach Ministries, 3426 Crawfordville Road, Tallahassee, FL 32305, with the committal concluding in Greenwood Cemetery.
Viewing-visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Friday, January 23, 2026, at the New Hope International Outreach Ministries.
The life she lived was true and honest, always glad to meet a friend; Happy hearted and contented, faithful to the very end!
Ruthie Mae Harris Brown was born on October 06, 1945, to Joe and Naomi Harris. Ruthie was preceded in death by her husband: Eddie Brown; son: Nathaniel K. Brown; parents; sisters: Julia Mae Simmons, Edna Mae Harris Collins, Dorothy Ann Harris Allen; and brothers: Joshua Harris, Willie Davis White, Willie Harris, Sam Harris and John Calvin Harris.
Ruthie resided in Liberty Park Community, was converted at an early age and attended St Matthew Primitive Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Florida. She was educated in the public schools of Leon County. Ruthie worked in the Leon County Schools Food Service until the age of 79.
Her hobbies included gardening, growing flowers, and shopping for great bargains. She also enjoyed cooking, eating out, and attending outdoor country events such as Mule Day, Bradley's and the North Florida Fair.
Ruthie was married to Eddie Brown and to this union were born four sons and four daughters.
Ruthie departed this earthly life on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at HCA Florida Capital Hospital. She leaves to cherish precious memories, her children: Conchita (Herman) Yant, Eddie L. Brown, Sharon D. Gilliam, Terry L. Brown, Reshawonder L. Brown, Mariesetta D. Brown and Rickie E. Brown, all of Tallahassee, FL; a loving and caring daughter: Rena Robinson of Columbia, SC; 19 Grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Leroy Harris, Tallahassee, FL and Edward (Sheena) Harris of Sopchoppy, FL; one sister: Christine Harris of Tallahassee, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
It is our esteemed honor to have been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Brown and to serve the Brown Family.
