Sammy Tyrone Towels, Jr., 70, of Tallahassee passed on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 2, at Faith Chapel Pentecostal Church, with interment in the Tallahassee National Cemetery. Viewing-visitation is 4-6 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE (850-942-1950). Born in Mineral Wells, TX, Sammy was a 1973 Rickards High graduate and a U.S. Army Veteran. He was lovingly known to family and friends as "Tie", "Sam" or "Blue". He attended TCC and retired from FAMU as the Campus-wide Fire Extinguisher Technician, serving for over 35 years. He was a staunch member of New Life Church International. He leaves his devoted wife, Mary Franklin Towels; son, Sammy Tyrone Towels III; more of a daughter than a niece, Kreshawn Walker Shaw (James); grandchildren: Jalen and Saniya Towels; godchildren: Tremayne Walker (Keisha), Danisha and Ira Holmes and Denzel Jones; brothers: Bishop Carlin Towels (Susan), Lester Griffin and Keith Flemming, Sr. (Karen); sisters: Viola Towels Jackson, Traci Towels Pickney (Raymond) and Monica Towels; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
