Deacon Samuel Douglas "Sam" Jones, Sr., 83, of Monticello's Piney Woods Community passed at home on Sunday, November 12, 2023. Homegoing services are 12 noon Sunday, November 19, at Casa Bianca M.B. Church, with burial in Byrd Cemetery. Viewing is 4-6 p.m. Saturday at Casa Bianca. Sam was a deacon at Casa Bianca, a talented farmer and tradesman who could fix almost anything. He retired as a Road Maintenance Supervisor V after 38.5 years with the Florida Department of Transportation. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Eliza Keaton Jones; daughters: Tracy Jones Gallon and Gretta Jones; sons: Daryl Jones and Samuel Jones, Jr.; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; sister, Jessie Lee Jones Parker; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Sam was predeceased by his parents, Sam & Charlotte Presha Jones; siblings: George and Gladys Williams Jones, Hattie Mae Jones Norton and Mildred Brown and grandson, Antwan Jones.
