It is with utmost respect, we announce the passing of Mr. Sidney R. Thompson , age 89, of Tallahassee, Florida, who departed this earthly life on Sunday, March 8, 2026.
Viewing-visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2026, at the TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE CHAPEL (850-942-1950) .
A Celebration of Life will be held 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the Old West Enrichment Center, 2344 Lake Bradford Road, Tallahassee, FL 32310, with the burial to follow in St. Peter's Community Cemetery, 8422 Wakulla Springs Road, Tallahassee, FL 32310.

Brother Sidney R. Thompson was born on July 2, 1936, in Woodville, Florida to the late Lavillard "Teddy" Thompson and Anna Jones.
A Time To Build
Brother Sidney R. Thompson accepted Christ at an early age while growing up in Woodville. He remained steadfast in his faith and was a dedicated and faithful member of Mount Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church for many years. As a child, Sidney found great joy working in the fields alongside his grandfather. In his early adult years, he explored opportunities in the propane business before beginning a long and dedicated career with the City of Tallahassee as a coach operator, driving the city bus. He faithfully served the community in this role for more than 36 years before retiring. Even in retirement, Brother Sidney continued to give back by working as a crossing guard for the Leon County School System, helping ensure the safety of students each day. Brother Sidney R. Thompson was born on July 2, 1936, in Woodville, Florida to the late Lavillard "Teddy" Thompson and Anna Jones.
A Time To Say Good Bye
Following an extended illness, Brother Sidney R. Thompson accepted his wings, and quietly and peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 8, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents: Henry and Millie Jones; brother: William Tucker and daughter: Jackie Reshard. Brother Sidney R. Thompson leaves to cherish his loving memory his wife, Dianne Gaskins Thompson of 39 years; sons: Elder Connell (Essie) Leonard, Deacon Andrew (Sabrina) Thompson, Leonard Thompson, Christopher Thompson, Nicholas Thompson, and Tremaine Anderson all of Tallahassee, Fla.; Brandon Fullington of New York City, and Terrell Thompson of Orlando, Fla.; daughters: Evangelist Barbara (Brownell) Ellis, Roseanna (Leroy) Thompson, Cynthia (Edward) Tucker, and Antoinette Thompson all of Woodville, Fla., Penny Thompson Sutton, Sidneia Renea Thompson and Alicia Thompson of Tallahassee, Fla., Rosa L. (Maurice) Knight and Michelle McGriff of Jacksonville, Fla., Cassandra (Thomas) McMahon of Houston, Texas, Lyndoria (Edward) Frazier and Latisha Thompson of Orlando, Fla.; two brothers: Lavillard "Teddy" Thompson of West Palm Beach, Fla., and George (Eliza) Bland of Tallahassee, Fla.; two sisters: Gladys Hicks of Tallahassee, Fla., and Darnett Thompson of West Palm Beach, Fla.; 45 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loves and will miss him dearly.
It is our esteemed honor to have been entrusted with the care of Mr. Thompson and to serve the Thompson Family.
