Susie Powell Brown departed this life on February 3, 2025. She was born November 6, 1929 in Tallahassee, FL, to Mose Powell, Sr. and Mattie Kilpatrick Powell. She confessed Christ at an early age and as an adult joined Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church. She was educated in the public schools of Leon County, graduating from FAMU High. Susie was employed as a housekeeper and was a well-known seamstress. Mrs. Brown is survived by her children: Gwendolyn Brown of Lanham, MD; LaJoyce (Bobby) Myrick of Ocala, FL; Judith (George) Burney of Pembroke Pines, FL and Hortense Brown Jones of Odenton, MD; brother-in-law, Charles Rollins and daughter-in-law, Denise Brown of Tallahassee, FL; grand & great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; sons: Hubert Jr. and Wayne Brown; husband, Hubert Brown, Sr.; and siblings: Henry, Mose, Rudolph, Shellie, Lucy, Gregory and Louvenia. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 15, at Gethsemane M.B. Church, 302 Wallis Street, Tallahassee, FL. Viewing is 4-6 p.m. Friday at TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE (850-942-1950).
