Willie Pearl Jones Nelms, 76, of St. Petersburg, FL passed in Lakeland, FL on Sunday, June 9, 2024. Funeral services are 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Mt. Pleasant AME Church, with burial in Groover Cemetery. Viewing is 4-6 p.m. Friday at TILLMAN OF MONTICELLO (850-997-5553). A native of Monticello, Mrs. Nelms was a 1965 graduate of Howard Academy High School. She had lived in St. Petersburg for over 55 years. Before retiring, she had been a Team Lead (Supervisor) with Johnson Controls for over 30 years. Survivors include her daughter, LaTonya Nelms; grandchildren: CC and Quemond Nelms, Sr., O'Shea and O'Shan Coleman and O'Niyah McKeever; great-grandchildren: Olaijuwan Coleman, Quemond Jr. and Quadir Nelms; brothers: Fred and Titus Jones; sister, Claretha Smiley; and a host of other relatives and friends.
