August 13, 1956 – March 4, 2026
It is with utmost respect, we announce the passing of Mr. Willie Lee "Tee" King , age 69, of Orlando, Florida (formerly of Monticello), who departed this earthly life on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
Viewing-visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2026, at the TILLMAN OF MONTICELLO CHAPEL (850-997-5553) .
Funeral Services for Mr. Willie L. "Tee" King will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, 780 2nd Street, Monticello, FL 32344, with the interment to follow in Oakfield Cemetery, 2462 Waukeenah Hwy, Monticello, FL 32344.
The journey of WILLIE "TEE" KING began on August 13, 1956. Born in Monticello, Florida, he was the youngest of eleven children to James and Leona Brooks King. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings James "Ted" King, Jr., Alphonso King, Mildred King, Mary King Barrington, Joseph King, and Bertha Lee Bright, who welcomed him into eternal rest.
WILLIE'S youth unfolded in Monticello, where he attended Jefferson County Public schools and graduated from Jefferson County High School. After graduation, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army, serving honorably from 1974 to 1977. During his service, his thirst for knowledge remained strong, leading him to earn a Bachelor's degree from Florida State University in 1978. He remained, as was widely known, a lifelong Seminole and carried great pride in his alma mater.
WILLIE built a distinguished and multifaceted career that encompassed his early work as a State Trooper, State Investigator, and Correctional Officer. He went on to dedicate 18 years to Orange County Utilities Engineering in the Greater Orlando area, retiring in 2025. He was known for his unwavering integrity, gaining respect and admiration from all who worked alongside him. But WILLIE'S legacy extended far beyond his professional achievements. He was recognized as persistent, resilient, charismatic, and endlessly anecdotal. As a natural born storyteller, he had the rare gift of turning any ordinary moment into a tale worth remembering often with humor, warmth, and insight. He embraced life with philosophical depth and provided assistance when called upon by his family and peers.
On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, WILLIE "TEE" KING entered eternal rest with the Lord. His love and legacy will live on forever in the hearts of his beloved wife: Gwendolyn King of Orlando, FL; his loving daughters: Valnecia King, Tamara Clark, Tameka Matthews, Azameana King, and Jenell King; sons: Kendrick (Misha) King, Alex King, and Julius King; granddaughters: Anecia, Suri, and Suni; sister: Lois (John) Nelson; brothers: Adolphus (Ollie) King, George (Daisy) King, and Dan (Dorothy) King; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and cherished friends.
It is our profound honor to have been entrusted with the care of Mr. King and to serve the King Family.
