Obituary

Cynthia Carole Murphy was the daughter of Willie C. Murphy and Ruby Clark. Cynthia was born in Donaldsonville-Seminole County, Georgia on Sunday, September 25, 1955. Both of Cynthia's parents preceded her in death.

Early years for Cynthia were spent in her native Donaldsonville where she attended public school. While in high school, Cynthia's mother moved her family to Tallahassee, Florida. There, Cynthia attended the schools in Leon County and graduated from Amos P. Godby High School in 1973. Following graduation, Cynthia continued her education at Florida A&M University (FAMU) where she pursued an Accounting degree. Cynthia's employment spanned thirty-five (35) years with the State of Florida's Department of Financial Services. She retired in 2013 as a Senior Accountant.

During her leisure, Cynthia took great pleasure in cooking, reading and attending FAMU football games; she bled orange and green. Of all pleasures, her greatest was spending time with her grandchildren. Each one of them held a special spot in Cynthia's heart.

Many years ago, Cynthia realized the need to have a closer walk with the Lord. She confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized. For over 20 years, she served faithfully as a member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of the Reverend Stanley L. Walker, Sr. On Wednesday, August 28, 2019, God Almighty summoned Sister Cynthia Carole Murphy Home for her Celestial rest. Her love and legacy will be cherished forever by her two sons: Jamey Murphy, Jessup, GA and Robert Gilliam, Jr. of Tallahassee, FL; seven grandchildren: Jamiya Murphy, Jamey Murphy, Jr., Azari Murphy, Laileayana Murphy, Ranisha Gilliam, Jayce Gilliam and Skylar Gilliam, all of Tallahassee, FL; sister: Michelle (Roy) Stubbs of Blakely, GA; brothers: Tony Robinson, New York, NY, Willie (Alisa) Murphy, Bainbridge, GA and Calvin Murphy of Donaldsonville, GA; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relative s and loving friends.
