Gwendolyn Diane
Jones
October 17, 1958 – October 9, 2019
Gwendolyn Diane Jones was born in Monticello, Florida. She was the daughter of Rutherford and Marie Sneed Jones, both who preceded her to Glory.
Diane, as she was lovingly called by family and friends, grew up in her native Monticello where she was surrounded by numerous aunts and uncles on both sides of her family. She attended the public schools of Jefferson County and entered the workforce at an early age. For several years, she was employed by Simpson Nurseries. Later years in life, she worked as a private-duty home healthcare aide. During her leisure, Diane enjoyed playing cellphone games and spending time talking with friends by phone. It is said that once she became engaged in conversation, she would never switch over to accept an incoming call, regardless of whom it was that was attempting to reach her. She also doted on her grandchildren and was a vocal University of Florida Gators fan.
Sister Jones confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior many years ago. She served and was a member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church for several years. She began experiencing health issues. On Wednesday, October 9, 2019, while at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare, God Almighty summoned Sister Diane Home for her eternal rest. Her love and memory will be treasured forever by her daughters: Natasha (Reginald) Byrd, Tallahassee, FL, Christine Jones and Ernestine Jones, both of Monticello, FL; sons: John Scurry, Anchorage, AK and Wallace (Juanice) Jones of Tallahassee, FL; six grandchildren: Nathaniel Clark, Devonte Clark, Keyshawn Jones, Eric Woody, Nikerria Jones and Wallace Jones; four great-grandchildren; brothers: James (Beatrice) Walker, Anchorage, AK, Robert Jones and Roosevelt Jones, both of Monticello, FL; sisters: Martha Jones, Dorothy Jones, Janie Jones and Daisy Hatchett, all of Monticello, FL; aunts: Queen Ester Willis, Monticello, FL and Dorothy Harley of Fayetteville, NC; uncle: Lacey Jones of Tallahassee, FL; a dear and special friend: Mary Evans of Monticello, FL;
