Joseph Thomas Durant

Tallahassee, FL - Joseph "Joe" Thomas Durant, 72, of Tallahassee passed on Saturday, March 5, 2022. Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 11, Tomorrow, in the Old West Enrichment Center, with military honors burial in Tallahassee National Cemetery. Viewing-visitation is one hour prior to the service on Friday at the Center. TILLMAN OF TALLAHASSEE (850-942-1950) is serving the Durant family. A native of Mobile, AL, Joe was a U.S. Army veteran. Prior to graduating from FAMU (Bachelor's and Master's degrees), he attended Mobile Alabama Junior College. He taught school and coached at Lincoln High School before becoming the Head Baseball Coach at FAMU. He was also an adjunct professor in Golf at FAMU. Treasuring his love and legacy are his loving wife of 33 years, Tawanda Harris Durant; daughter, Marcia (Eddie) Stephens; sons: Keaton (Camille) Hill and Kenderick Durant; one who was like a daughter, Breana Baker; brothers: James (Ethel) Brock, Larry (Vixony Vixamar) and Royland Durant; sister, Emma Brock-Williams; brother-in-law, David Heidel; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
